Youssef Ragheb is an Egyptian visual artist and art professor with a special interest in drawing, sequential pictorial narratives and a conceptual research based approach to visual expression.

Academic Career

  • -1975 Born in Cairo, Egypt.
  • -1998 Graduated from the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University with a Grade of Excellent and Honors.
  • -2003 Acquired his MA in Art Education with his thesis on “The Potentialities of Sequential Art in Enriching Expression in Painting”.
  • -2008 Acquired his PhD in art Education with his thesis on “The Philosophical Concept of Interactive Art as an Approach for Teaching Art Education”.
  • -2020 Associate Professor of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University.
  • – 2006 – today, An Affiliate Adjunct Faculty in the Department of the Arts at the American University in Cairo.
  • -Courses taught at AUC: Drawing, Art Foundations, Painting, Comics and Sequential Art, Foundations of Design, Introduction to Illustration, and Analogue and digital Practices.

Career as a Freelance Illustrator

  • -1995 – 2011. Illustrated numerous books/ publications as a Freelance Illustrator/Cartoonist.
  • Worked with many local and international Publishing Houses and Multimedia Design Groups, including Longman Publishing House, Cambridge Press Publications, among many others.
  • -1996 – 2002 Illustrated numerous Story Boards and layouts for many Award Winning Animated features for the Egyptian TV.
  • -1998 Freelance Comic Strip artist for several publishers.
