ABOUT

Youssef Ragheb is an Egyptian visual artist based in Cairo.  He has been an active member in the Egyptian art scene since 1995 exhibiting his work locally and abroad in group and solo exhibitions. His work ranges from sequential drawing to digital interactive installations. 

He holds a BA, MA and PhD in  Art Education. An associate professor of Drawing and Painting at the Faculty of Art Education, Helwan University. He is also an Affiliate Adjunct faculty member at  the Department of the Arts in the American University in Cairo, teaching courses in art foundations, experimental comics, and drawing.

In Addition to his academic and artistic careers he worked as a freelance illustrator for several national and international publishing houses and multimedia design groups since 1996.

He has been a member of jury panels for several art and media festivals and exhibitions since 2008.

He organized the first academic workshop for Experimental Comics and Sequential Art in Egypt in 2003 – 2010 in the Faculty of Art Education, where he conducted numerous experiments with his students in experimental visual narrative 

Ragheb’s art has been involved with various concepts ranging from belief systems, the occult, biology, mythology, and politics, depending heavily on research of links and conceptual patterns to come up with visually and conceptually compelling narratives.
